What the limit means for your aircraft

Teterboro's operator caps how heavy an aircraft can be when it uses the airport. The rule keeps airliners and the heaviest jets away from a busy field surrounded by homes and roads.

For light, midsize and super-midsize jets it makes no practical difference. Many large-cabin jets operate normally too. Where it can matter is the heaviest long-range aircraft on very long trips, because fuel is heavy: a full load for an ocean crossing can take an aircraft close to the limit.

In those cases the operator plans around it, for example with a fuel stop, a different aircraft or a nearby airport without the same limit. Your advisor checks this whenever one of the biggest jets is on the table.

Getting there

Car or helicopter

Most travelers drive. From Midtown the usual routes are the Lincoln Tunnel or the George Washington Bridge, then a short run through Bergen County. Off-peak the trip is quick; at rush hour the river crossings can add a lot of time, so build in a margin.

If time matters more than cost, a helicopter can connect a Manhattan heliport with Teterboro in minutes. Tell us when you request a quote and we will arrange it through a helicopter operator.

  • Arrival time: a short while before departure is usually enough at a private terminal.
  • Ramp access: some FBOs let your car drive to the aircraft; we will tell you if yours does.
  • ID: bring government photo ID for every adult passenger.

Or from White Plains, Morristown or Republic: tell us which field suits you and we will quote from there.

By requesting a quote you agree to be contacted about this trip by email, phone or text. See our Privacy Policy. Teterboro Jets is an air charter broker and is not a direct air carrier. We do not own or operate aircraft; every flight is operated by an FAA Part 135 (or foreign equivalent) direct air carrier in operational control of the aircraft.
